"The art of chanoyu involves a kind of mixing and matching of personal and traditional elements, a combination in which a host's cultivation and discrimination are expressed" What are the Tea Ceremonies?
The Japanese Tea Ceremony is an ancient ritual that is also known as Chanoyu. This ceremony is when the powdered green tea is prepared, consumed and ritualized in a certain type of space with certain codified procedures. The tea is known as Matcha. When these ceremonies were started, they were designed to focus attention on the profound beauty of the simplest aspects of nature. This idea became known as The Way of Tea, or Chado.
